Deck Design & Construction – Clarks Summit, PA
Location: Old Trail Road, Clarks Summit, PA
Property Type: Newly Built Residential Home
Year Completed: 2024
Approximate Cost: $110,000
Project Summary
The Challenge
A newly constructed home in Clarks Summit featured a door that opened to nowhere, leaving homeowners without access to their outdoor space. With no prior deck-building knowledge, the family discovered NEPA Builders working on a neighbor’s project and began their journey to create a beautiful outdoor living area.
This family wanted to extend their living space outdoors but needed a custom deck that provided both open-air enjoyment and a covered area for all-weather relaxation.
Our Solution
NEPA Builders provided a consultative approach that set us apart from competitors. Our Project Consultant, Shawn, asked detailed questions the homeowners hadn’t considered—colors, materials, roof pitch, and ground grade—making the decision-making process educational and straightforward. We designed and built a custom L-shaped deck measuring 14′ x 39′ and 27′ x 8′, providing ample space for outdoor relaxation and entertainment. We were able to deliver reasonable pricing that fit their budget while maintaining the quality and features they wanted.

Project Features Included:
- Spacious Composite Decking – Built using Trex Transcend decking and railing, complete with matching cocktail rail tops for a high-end, durable finish.
- Covered Outdoor Lounge – A gable-end roof was framed over part of the deck, creating a cozy, weather-protected space where the family could relax, enjoy outdoor furniture, and watch TV.
- Enhanced Aesthetics – The deck was picture-framed with square-edge boards in multiple areas for a polished look. PVC trim was installed on the beams, posts, and gable end for a refined decorative finish.
